Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS)
Distributed Denial of Service is a blocking of access to a service or servers in whole. Structure of internet has a lot of problems and one of them is ability to block access to host.Sometimes servers have services that do job very slow and if someone overloads them can down system and host becomes unavailable. Such DoS attacks mostly not applicable nowadays.
Modern DDoS attacks are more technically difficult and require a lot of resources. This is an attack where thousands or millions hosts (which are usually are compromised computers infected with a Trojan - such called BotNet) are used to send tiny data blocks to a single system causing overload of target service or server in whole.
If you are under DDoS attack you have these options:
1. If attacker want payment from you - pay. But in most cases you will pay him lifelong.
2. Just do nothing and wait till attack will stop or close your site. Attacker spends a lot of resources and he can not spend them without funding. After months of DDoS he probably leaves you but can return in any day.
3. Spend some cash and buy AntiDDoS hosting. Mostly you will not need to move your project to new host but just move your domain to antiddos server which will work as a proxy. Such antiddos proxy will filter incoming traffic by stopping trash and passing real visitors.
